In Rosie Emerson’s latest hand-finished screenprint edition, I have fallen a long way, clouds are flowering (2023), a lone figure gazes above her as an entanglement of flowers and foliage rise upwards, suspended in the air. Swans swim in pools of gold and colour floods beneath her feet. The title is borrowed from The Moon and The Yew Tree by Silvia Plath, which weaves a complex landscape of the mind, speaking to Emerson’s fascination with the dream space.

Comprised of her own photography, screenprint, and hand applied leaf in contrasting metals, the edition is comprised of six variable prints, and two artist proofs, making each one strikingly unique. The colour palette was inspired by a technological mishap which inverted the tones of her initial design, revealing a palette of gold and black, which she lifts with pinks, yellows and a deep aubergine.
