Exclusive to Smithson Gallery
Off the back of two successful limited edition print releases, Movement of Time and The Measure of Ending, Eric Haacht has revisited the edition proofs and experimented with reworking them using hand-applied acrylic. This has resulted in a very special mini-collection of ten beautifully hand finished screenprints.
Responding to the screenprinted image and following his intuitive and expressive painterly process, each series presents morphing versions of the same portrait. For Eric this evokes a sense of the subtle and shifting changes in what he calls the ‘human landscape’, as one moves through shades of selfhood in a constant state of transformation and becoming.
With Eric’s solo show on the horizon, which will primarily feature works on canvas, we thought this would be a nice opportunity to offer collectors something a bit different, and a great way to kickstart our 2022 artwork releases.
“Bacon used the phrase ‘painting is to trick truth’, you have to trick it into becoming, to being. So, when I see that there’s a moment of truth in the painting, something I’ve captured, or tricked, that’s what I’ll hold onto.”
— Eric Haacht
