"This series of paintings continue a theme of childhood nostalgia and emotion. The process of making the work is purposely very tactile. Made on very heavy 16oz linen the surface of the painting is built up through heavy layers of paint and medium, while sanding creates a very malleable touch. This allows for thin watery layers of transparent paint to be built up along with thick tacky globs of paint and medium. The results create colourful, layered painting that evolve slowly.
The beginnings of the work start with the same predetermined structures while the freewheeling application of paint slowly evolves the work. This process often involves a series of decisions which include repainting and reworking the surface. As the paintings develop the edge of the painting and the surface become increasingly important, giving clues to how the painting was constructed."
We often frame works on canvas into a tray frame (no glass).
Please see below for example mouldings, we use an Obeche wood which is stained by hand and made to order. This is available in Black ink stain, Dark Brown, Lime Wash and White.
Please note your colour preference or framing enquiry in the order notes when placing your order.
Framing is 2-4 weeks as standard. We are happy to hold up samples against your purchased artwork and discuss which finish works best. Alternative mouldings, frame style or size are available upon request, do not hesitate to contact us to discuss further.
